What's the history?

The above was maybe a little deep (pun intended), I'll explain the more casual and fun version of Katie, and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you, too!

I grew up in Guelph, Ontario, and went to post-secondary for Interior Design and Architecture. My passion for design and problem solving brought me there. I excelled in school and after graduating, worked for various design firms. Ideally, I wanted to design hospitals and long-term care facilities. The research and challenges of creating these spaces were a driving force to that desire! I was motivated to find answers through various mediums, and truly think outside the box. 

Something was missing though. I was in the heart of a city, and missed the fresh country air, beautiful flowing rivers, livestock, and tall green trees from the small town my parents grew up in. 

I moved to a shoreline community near Lake Huron and began designing custom cabinetry and millwork for beautiful beach homes and cottages (who am I kidding, these cottages were bigger than most homes I've ever been in). I absolutely thrived on meeting clients, building relationships and solving problems in their spaces. Making their space functional and beautiful was the most rewarding feeling. This lead me to managing a team of 6 designers and building a successful design team. 

Shopify popped up on my News Feed one day and I didn't believe the company was real. Everything that truly mattered to me is what truly matters to Shopify. I hold the same values Shopify does within my personal, and professional life, and have held my Shopifam in a high regard for nearly 4 years. I look forward to the next challenge every minute, hour, day, and so on.
